About Ho‘omaluhia Horse Rescue & Sanctuary

Nestled between the ocean and the Koʻolau mountains in Hauʻula, just behind the Asia Pacific International School (APIS) campus, Hoʻomaluhia Horse Rescue is a family-founded nonprofit dedicated to giving Hawaiʻi’s horses a second chance.

As a young and growing organization, we are currently building our facilities and laying the foundation for a long-term sanctuary where rescued horses can heal, recover, and thrive. In addition to horse rescue and sanctuary care, we offer youth education programs, community volunteer opportunities, agricultural learning experiences, and hands-on opportunities that connect people with horses and the land.

We look forward to serving our community, welcoming volunteers, and creating a safe haven where Hawaiʻi's horses can find hope, healing, and a fresh start.

To rescue, rehabilitate, and provide sanctuary for horses while fostering connection through stewardship, education, and community engagement in Hawaiʻi.

Our Vision

Our vision is a Hawaiʻi where every horse is safe, valued, and given the opportunity to thrive; where people are inspired to become lifelong stewards of animals, agriculture, and the land through education, conservation, and community.
