Ho‘omaluhia Horse Rescue Hawaiʻi is a family-founded nonprofit dedicated to giving Hawaiʻi’s horses a second chance.
In addition to horse rescue and sanctuary care, we offer youth education programs, community volunteer opportunities, agricultural learning experiences, and hands-on opportunities that connect people with horses and the land.

Mr. President
Mr. President came to us after our veterinary team reached out in hopes of finding him a second chance. While he had ringbone, arthritis, and some hoof issues, he had no critical conditions at the time of his euthanasia appointment. We’re so glad they called & that we were able to step in! These days, he's enjoying being officially adopted by our Director of Equine Operations.

Marley
Marley is around 24 years old and has been part of our family for several years. When she first arrived, she was severely malnourished, painfully sunburned, and had lost much of her mane and tail after grazing on toxic haole koa. With proper nutrition, veterinary care, and lots of love, she's made an incredible recovery and now enjoys the peaceful life with light riding and lots of grazing!

Dakota
Dakota is our 2-year-old Appaloosa and the youngest member of the sanctuary. She's growing into an incredibly smart, curious, and affectionate young horse with plenty of personality. Like her mom, Marley, Dakota keeps us on our toes with her cleverness. She loves soaking up attention from her favorite people and being part of the herd.

Shakespeare
Shakespeare, affectionately known as Shakes, is our newest rehabilitation intake and permanent sanctuary resident. At 16 years old, he's a kind and sensitive horse who takes time to build trust. He responds to gentle handling, patience, and consistency, and we're committed to helping him gain confidence at his own pace! We're excited to share his progress.
